South Shelby Cardinals

As most of you know, the Shelby County R-IV School District has updated the social media pages and schools website.  We have created new Shelby County R-IV pages for Facebook and Twitter that our staff will use to post content from all three of our buildings.  Our new website is hosted by Apptegy.  We chose this platform because it gives us the ability to post current items on our website and share this to social media at the same time as well as offering a mobile app for Apple or Google mobile phones.

If you have not been to the school website recently, I would encourage you to visit it at www.cardinals.k12.mo.us .  To download the app, go to your App Store on your mobile device and search “Shelby County R-IV or South Shelby”.  The new website connects to our Student Information System as we send out school messages.  We have been using it during the recent snow days for school cancellations.  Eventually this will be our primary method to send out school messages.

The system sends out a text message from a five digit number.  I would suggest saving that number on your cell phone to something like “Shelby County R-IV Message Alert”.  The messages should come from the same 5 digit number each time.  Sponsors and Coaches will also set up some smaller groups when they need to get a message out to a particular group or team.  Our messages can be sent out as a Text Message or Voice Call as well as posting to Facebook, Twitter, Live Feed or News on the school website and a push notification.  The Push Notification is a feature on the mobile app.  You can adjust the settings to allow or limit notifications.  The app will notify you when the district posts an update to the school website.

During the past couple weeks with school cancellations, we have used the new texting notification system through the school website as well as the school messenger system, that is a recorded school phone call.  We will be phasing out the school messenger notifications over the next month.  If you have only received messages by phone and no text messages, you should contact your students building office and update your contact information.  If you do not have a student in school and would like to see school updates, please download the mobile app.  Most notifications sent as a text message will also be sent out as a push notification.  Our new website is a work in progress.  We will be working to keep calendars and important information as current and accurate as possible.  We are excited about the opportunity to share school updates in a timely manner.  Thank you for your continued support.
