Thank you SRO Matt Mefford for educating our students!
It was a great day today in Grandma's General Studies class. The students are finishing up an intensive essay about a country of their choice. After researching the country's culture and foods that are eaten, the students and their families prepared a traditional dish from that country. Our meal included:
Bootrog from Mongolia ๐ฒ๐ณ
Buttery Cookies from Poland ๐ต๐ฑ
Dulce De Leche cake from Argentina ๐ฆ๐ท
Heidelbeerkuchen from Germany๐ฉ๐ช
Pineapple on a Stick from England ๐ฌ๐ง
Swiss Chocolate Cake from Switzerland ๐จ๐ญ
Hokey Pokey from New Zealand ๐ณ๐ฟ
Irish Soda Bread from Ireland๐ฎ๐ช
Enchiladas from Guatemala ๐ฌ๐น
Famous Spanish Paella from Spain ๐ช๐ธ
Ensalada from Chile ๐จ๐ฑ
Makaronilaatiuko from Finland ๐ซ๐ฎ
Auglomono from Greece ๐ฌ๐ท
Beef Fajitas from Mexico ๐ฒ๐ฝ
Russian Meatballs from Russia ๐ท๐บ
And good ol' sweet tea from the USA๐บ๐ธ It was encouraged that everyone try everything. Even if you don't care for it, use good manners and appreciate the cultural differences amongst all people.
It was a great day! One of the greatest learnings was realizing that the world is full of beautiful places. But we really are blessed to live in the most wonderful country of all! And a big shout out and thank you to the parents/guardians who helped make this happen. We will finish out this week with learning Christmas traditions and finding images of international Santas. We will never forget this day! And Grandma is thankful for stretchy pants!
Merry Christmas ๐ ๐
