6th grade Botanists investigating leaves. Missouri leaves are being classified by their common name, scientific name, leaf composition, leaf shape, leaf venation, uses to man, uses to wildlife , and various hypothesis are being discovered. Science is EVERYWHERE! There is no escape!




7th grade ELA is reading "Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen. To go along with this unit, students wrote formal, persuasive letters to convince Mr. Bowen why adding a survival course to the curriculum might be useful.

South Shelby Elementary recently kicked off a new Cardinal Snack Pack Program. This program allows some of our students to take home extra snacks to eat on the weekend. Thanks to a very generous donation from the Shelbina Family Restaurant, the program is fully funded for the year! Additional donations from the Shelbina Christian Church and Cerro will allow us to expand the program. We are so grateful for these community sponsors! Thank you for supporting our students.

4th Grade Music students working on the 4th/5th Grade Halloween Foley (sound effect) project. Stay tuned for the finished product!




Third grade students learned about making and following maps in art. After finding treasure, they got to draw a map of a place that was special to them.
