MORE DATES AND INFORMATION FROM YOUR SCHOOL NURSE:
You may have noticed online registration had dental screenings/varnish added to it. Starting this year, ALL students at South Shelby will be given the opportunity to receive FREE screenings/varnish that is provided by the NEMO Health Council here at school. This will take place on September 17th this year.
A separate program is also available to all of our students. Parents have the opportunity to have their children receive dental care through Big Smiles Dental, an in-school dental program. This service is convenient and aims to keep children healthy and learning, according to Big Smiles Dental. A state-licensed dentist and their staff will visit the school on two separate dates: October 2nd for elementary students (SSES) and October 9th for middle and high school students (SSMS/HS).
The services provided by Big Smiles Dental will include cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, x-rays, and fillings, as needed. A dental report will also be sent home with each student after their visit. Based on your insurance, it could at NO COST to you.
Permission slips for elementary students will be distributed in late August or early September. Middle school students will find their permission slips attached to their back-to-school paperwork. High school students can pick up their permission slips at their convenience from the High School Office. Parents can also visit www.MySchoolDentist.com to sign up their children online.
