It was a great day today in Grandma's General Studies class. The students are finishing up an intensive essay about a country of their choice. After researching the country's culture and foods that are eaten, the students and their families prepared a traditional dish from that country. Our meal included:
Bootrog from Mongolia 🇲🇳
Buttery Cookies from Poland 🇵🇱
Dulce De Leche cake from Argentina 🇦🇷
Heidelbeerkuchen from Germany🇩🇪
Pineapple on a Stick from England 🇬🇧
Swiss Chocolate Cake from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Hokey Pokey from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Irish Soda Bread from Ireland🇮🇪
Enchiladas from Guatemala 🇬🇹
Famous Spanish Paella from Spain 🇪🇸
Ensalada from Chile 🇨🇱
Makaronilaatiuko from Finland 🇫🇮
Auglomono from Greece 🇬🇷
Beef Fajitas from Mexico 🇲🇽
Russian Meatballs from Russia 🇷🇺
And good ol' sweet tea from the USA🇺🇸 It was encouraged that everyone try everything. Even if you don't care for it, use good manners and appreciate the cultural differences amongst all people.
It was a great day! One of the greatest learnings was realizing that the world is full of beautiful places. But we really are blessed to live in the most wonderful country of all! And a big shout out and thank you to the parents/guardians who helped make this happen. We will finish out this week with learning Christmas traditions and finding images of international Santas. We will never forget this day! And Grandma is thankful for stretchy pants!
Merry Christmas 🎄 🎅 ❤️
