What are your plans for next year?

The spring semester of my senior year I will apply for a state FFA office! If I obtain an office I will attend Missouri State for a year and then transfer to The University of Georgia. If being a state FFA officer isn’t Gods intended path for me I will take a semester of classes online through MACC and transfer to a the University of Georgia. I will continue my walk in agriculture by studying ag communications and journalism!

What School Activities are you involved in?

FFA President, Area III 1st Vice President, NHS, Environmental Club Vice President of Education, Student Council, and Hawkins Drama Club

What is your favorite High School Memory?

My favorite high school memory is being on the Soils team with my best friend and having Brady Schmidt as our coach! We all made matching bracelets that said “dirtbags.”

What class in High School do you/did you enjoy the most?

My favorite class would be anything to do with agriculture but ceramics is a close second!

Who do you admire the most and why?

The person I admire most would have to be Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The way he loved with humility, compassion, and forgiveness is truly inspiring. I can only hope to strive to be a better person and love like him!

What teacher had the biggest influence on you and why?

The teacher that had the biggest influence on me would have to be Mr. Schmidt. He continually believed in me through every speech, office, and contest. He pushed me to be the best I can be and always had confidence for me when I didn’t have it myself. I wouldn’t be where I am today whether that be in life or FFA without him! Oh and he has the BEST wife and kids! And I have to mention Mrs. Parman, she may be new here but she’s already made such an impact and South is lucky to have her!

What is the one thing you will miss most about South Shelby?

Honestly, nothing. I am excited to see what other places have to offer!

What are your plans for next year?

Next year I plan to attend Mizzou to pursue a career as a CRNA.

What School Activities are you involved in?

At school I am involved in Softball, FFA, NHS, FBLA, STUCO, and Environmental Club. I also currently hold an office as the FFA Vice-President, NHS Treasurer, and Environmental Club President.

What is your favorite High School Memory?

My favorite memory of high school is when Coach Wilt showed his magician skills to my friends and I. It scared me how good it was.

What class in High School do you/did you enjoy the most?

My favorite class in high school is Anatomy. I enjoy being able to dissect the different organs and knowing what processes are going on inside of my body.

Who do you admire the most and why?

The people I admire the most are the three generations of women in front of me. My mom is one of my best friends and always full of advice, whether I want to hear it or not. She always pushes me to be my best. Next is my Grandma Charlene. No matter what she is facing or how sick she might be, she always shows up to support me and is willing to talk on the phone to me when I am on a long drive. She is always at every game and is one of the strongest people I know. My Great-Grandma Betty is also one of the best women I know. She always reminds me to be a light for God and to serve others with joy in my heart. Without each of these women molding me, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I am blessed and love them dearly.

What teacher had the biggest influence on you and why?

The teachers that had the biggest influence on me were Mr. Schmidt and Mrs. Parman. Mr. Schmidt has been my FFA contest coach throughout my high school career and has taught me many important things, even if I didn't want to learn them. Not only has he taught me agriculture related things, but also many necessary life skills. Mrs. Parman is not only my FFA advisor, but was also my softball coach. She has taught me to stay strong in tough situations and to make the most out of life. I have loved getting to know her this school year and am glad she decided to coach our team!

What is the one thing you will miss most about South Shelby?

The thing I will miss most about South Shelby is getting to see my friends each day.

What is your favorite High School Memory?

I don't think that I have just one favorite memory. Over my time in high-school I have been to many football and basketball games, and my time at these games has always been fun and sometimes memorable.
What class in High School do you/did you enjoy the most?

The class I enjoyed most was my food science class that I took my sophomore year because we had food competitions.

Who do you admire the most and why?

The people that I admire the most is my Mom and Lillie Broughton. My mom has always worked hard for anything that she has accomplished. She has taught me more valuable lessons than any one teacher. These lessons have given me the courage to work for my goals because she taught me that not everything in life will go as planned but sometimes those changes will help you accomplish your goals in a better way. Lillie Broughton is someone who I aspire to be. She is kind to everyone, smart because she works hard, and a leader in multiple different ways. Lillie is someone that you can talk to about anything and she will be there for you. She has just accomplished so much in such a short amount of time and its admirable.

What teacher had the biggest influence on you and why?

I think that the teacher that had the biggest influence on me was Mr. Mitchell. Mr.Mitchell was always positive and optimistic about any situation. He was able to teach us information from a hundred years ago while relating it to our current life in order for us to gain a valuable life lesson. He has taught me the value of hard work and kindness and will always be someone who I can call whether I need advise or or just someone to talk to.

What is the one thing you will miss most about South Shelby?

The thing that I will miss most about South Shelby is the connections that I have made with the teachers and the community, but I am excited to make new connections in college.
